Can any one do a report on Riffe's new long blade fins
Do the side rail work, etc

Im looking at buying a pair and they are to be used for Spearfishing only.

Please dont go on how plastic fins are Crap and Carbon or some other wanky material is the only way to go, they will only get trashed on the boat deck, reef, left out in the sun etc and its a waste of money buying expensive fins that wont last a season.
Pluss we dont have much of a choice down in Perth, Bat fins arnt available of the shelf.

I can give you a report, but bear in mind that I didn't get to try the fins; they were busily being loaned to one person after another. I went on a boat dive to Catalina some weeks back, and Julie Riffe was there. She brought a set of open-heeled fins to loan out and a pair of footpocket ones to use. Everyone who borrowed the fins loved them. My group also bought several pairs of the fins and had a great time with them. The rails kept the fins going steady instead of flailing about in the water, they offered plenty of power, and no one who used them got tired or experienced muscle fatigue.

They're a very interesting fin. The first thing you notice is the length. The are very, very long. They make my Sporasub H Dessaults look like stubby little scuba fins, and that caused some fin envy on my part :D. The blades are nice and smooth, and flexible, with a good solid feel to them. The footpockets felt much more comfortable than my Sporasubs. The blades are interchangeable I believe, but I would have to double check on that. Overall, I was impressed. I may end up getting a pair myself when it's financially possible.

whoa u see julie riffe and those people? thats pretty cool seeing as how on the east coast nobody lives out here and we never get to see anybody remotely famous/popular. but anyways, are the fins made by riffe any good and how much $$$ do they cost?

I got a chance to test out their fins too a couple of weeks ago in Hawaii. They were very nice in the water.

Those fins from riffe are pretty nice and they run about $165.00. The foot pocket is pretty comfortable too.

If I wanted a super tough long lasting fin I would go with one of the fiberglass style fins.

plastic just can't touch the new composites for durablitity.

never seen/used the Riffe fins......
