First, sorry if my english is bad.

I've been trying to find threads about this subject, but since I'm not sure about the terms and names used, it is a bit difficult.

I want to rig my gun and shooting line so that I just can pull the spear trough the fish, and then straigt to the floating line after killing the fish.

But at the same time I want the floate line to be attached to my weight belt.

Now I have the floating line attaced to the shaft of my gun, and running trough a carabiner on the weightbelt. In order to get the fish on to the floating line, I have to release the line from the shaft and pull the end troug the gills of the fish, then fasten the line to the gun again before I unhook the carabine in order to send the fish further up the floate line.
I also have to pull the spear out of the fish, and that is not always easy.

I could describe the standard Hawaiian breakaway system to you, but the float line would not be attached to your weight belt. Why do you want it attached to the weight belt?

Please describe the standard Hawaiian breakaway system :)

I thougt that attaching the floate line to the weight belt was normal, and that it was giving extra security. And I will not loose the belt if I have to drop it...

I suppose it depends on the size of the fish that you shoot, but the usual purpose of a breakaway system is so that nothing is attached to you or your gun, and the fish is fighting a float on the end of the float line.

To rig the system, cut your mono or cable shooting line so that the loop in the rear end is about 6 inches from the trigger-activated line release. Tie a loop of bungie cord through the loop in the mono and stretch it over the line release. Clip your float line to the loop in the shooting line. When you pull the trigger, everything is released and nothing has to pull out of any holes. Its breathtakingly simple and effective.

Thanks Bill :)

Any difference between closed and open muzzle when rigging like this?
