Just purchased the 1.4 as a blue water but waiting for it to be shipped over. I know that RA guns are awesome and they do have 7 world records so I'm not worried. Basically I want feedback on the general satisfaction with the gun. Can anyone help? Any mods or recommendations before I use...Also whats the best way to cock it? Cheers! Gday too for the Aussies out there...

hey bro where in Miami are you? zup! find a good technique and in my personal opinion & a very good loading pad as well! these baby's are some what of a pain to load. Huge gun! I would assume that you blue water hunt?

If you got any questions PM me man!

Armando thanx for the input as this is my first and certainly not last post....p.s. j/k not hialeah more like east around 27th ave. Do you go out often I have a boat and stuff and you?

skim,

RA is a top notch railgun, I have a 100 and just picked up a 120. I have not had any complaints. You should check out the REEF open muzzle made by HammerHeadSpearguns great upgrade! You will get use to the loading too, no big deal. Where did you purchase your RA from? I just bought my 120 from flfreedivers.com for a really nice cost.

good luck

don't bother with a hammerhead open muzzle. the gun will shoot great as is. it will kill pretty much anything to the end of one wrap with a 3/4" band. if you put two 5/8" bands on it, i imagine you could throw two wraps on it and shoot probably 22 or 24' maybe more, ive never tried two wraps. if you want an open muzzle you could get a RA one at florida freedivers. they'd probably help you install it too. its not a neccesity. my advice is to just shoot the gun as much as you can and you'll become deadly with it. what i love about ra guns is that they are cheap but really good. you don't have to worry about scratching them but they are accurate, powerful and durable. no bullshit frills, just an effective tool. accuracy depends on the band and shaft setup. it should shoot fine how it comes though.

as for loading, it just takes practice.

IMHO Austins has the best prices for RA GUNS! 100%, unless some places post an on-line price higher than what they really sell the gun for.

Dude accuracy on the RA it's not even a problem all you have to do it's just get the hang of it. At first I had problems with aiming and where exactly It was that i needed to shoot at. Till I just relaxed and extended my arm & aim boom! 1st grunt ! it was a target fish kinda big 2! I did from that day on and I did not miss a fish from that day on.

I have not had the chance to use my gun after I installed the RA open muzzle I imagine the line of sight for it would be 100% better now that everything is exposed!

never shot the 1.4, but rob allens make great products in general...the only challenge i could see with a 1.4 is transport :), my rabi 120 hardly fits in my car lengthways (which is a jeep liberty..), so unless you have a pickup or plan to transport it on a roof rack..youre gonna have a prob :)

The gun came in and is beautiful! Can't wait until Im out in the blue I need Blue water help see other "Mahi hunting" thread. Heres a pic of the gun.... (Wahoo NOT included!)

Hi
I have 2 x 1.4m RA railguns and they were from the 1st to be made. I have been using them for many years and I can only say good things about them. I suggest that you practice with it, as you would do with a new rifle, handgun or bow before you actually hunt with it. You will soon know where to aim and more important what the capabilities and limitations of the gun is. I do a lot of underwater “target” shooting when the sea is not diveable or when I have not dived for some time and I find that it really helps. Here are some pictures of fish taken with my RA 1.4.
