Rob Allen 70

I got a response back from Rob Allen about the guns shooting high. He mostly focused on the old style of aiming, where you aim from above by dropping the tip until the shaft disappears in front of the muzzle, then shoot. I use the side of the barrel, so that doesn't apply.
He also mentioned a firm grip. If you don't use a firm grip your shots may be off. My RA grips (both old green handles) are large, but comfortable. However, when I am wearing 5 mm gloves (even during summer) the grip is probably too big, leaving me with an insecure grip. I have removed the soft green grip from my RA 90. So that's the next thing I'll be playing with next summer. The spearfishing season is over here (major fall storms, followed by major winter storms), so I have to wait until next summer to try it out.
The other thing he mentioned is that the shorter shaft should cause no difference in shooting high. the rail guns wee designed to be used with a short shaft. So I'm feeling better about using a 120 cm x 6.5 mm shaft on my RA 90.

I am finding my RA to be a needle-threader...Who knows though - maybe I was always shooting low with my old Biller

A diving buddy got a RA 70 and he seems to miss a lot too. Missed an easy shot at a 20+ Rainbow that had him swearing for days...I think for him though it has to do with more his style of shot. He's more of a point and shoot as opposed to aiming down the spearshaft...

On a different note, has anyone converted a closed muzzle RA to the newer open-style? Took the screw out but the muzzle is still on there pretty good. Do I have to break the bond of an adhesive that was used? Or is it just a snug pressure fit once the screw has already been taken out? I searched for this topic, but couldn't find anything...I can't be the first that's done the conversion given they now sell them with open muzzles.

Hey mate! I have converted mine to the open muzzle. Once I had removed the screw on the closed muzzle, a twist and pull motion soon loosened the muzzle. The open muzzle fits straight on and fits very snuggly in place!

Awesome, thanks! Just wasn't sure if I would be damaging anything by muscle-ing it...
