ok this is mybe the last bit of advice i need.
im thinkin bout the rob allen sniper, and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how it compares to the other rob allen guns. also wondering if it can cope with two rubbers. my dad was a bit suspicious about it bending. is it worthy spending the extra money on one of the more expensive ones, or is the sniper fine

A sniper? There's a blast from the past! Is this a second hand gun? If not you want to make sure it has a brand new band on it. The sniper was a nice gun, I had one and loved it. It came with a single 16mm band if I remember correctly and would take a second with no bother (the barrel was/is notoriously strong) but I would honestly recommend a single 18mm or 20mm instead

the sniper is the only rob allen gun that my dive shop has, and they just got bout 20 of em in last week. the way the guy in the shopwas going on about it, i thought it was like his latest gun or sumthin.

im preety sure it was the sniper, i could be wrong

it is the Scorpia and it is new. Rob makes great rail guns, but the Scorpia has a non rail barrel. I bet it still rips though. I have had the TUNA 900 with the Vecta grip for about 2 years now and it is great.

Good Luck

Joel

Yeah the "newer" scorpia has a rail, but its not all that new.

A buddy of mine had a 110 it was a very good gun, very easy to use and very accurate. Not as polished as the omers but just as capable ..... and maby a little tougher.........just my thoughts.......

If the newer Scorpia has a rail, how does it differ from the other models? Is it just a different coloured handle, lack of bungee, lack clip in the handle & a thinner spear?

I believe that all RA rail models (alu) have the same “base” and that it’s only the band, shaft fittings that determine the name. For instance, Florida Freedivers sell the RA Caranx with double bands wile RA in South Africa call it the Tuna rail gun and their Caranx only comes fitted with single band and 7mm spear.

Today I received 2 RA 100cm Spear-guns (pics attached) directly from the factory in South Africa with open-muzzles and the new Vecta reel. It’s their Tuna model with 2 16mm bands. The only “custom” fitting I asked for and got was that the sticker Caranx is put on instead of Tuna (I just like the name…:friday..)

The guns obviously need to get tested before review but my first “dry” impressions are great…

Whereabout in Oz are you Philly?

Aqua-australis is the distributor for RA in Oz, and provides excellent customer support. All my guns are RA's.

Except for that carbon Venom you won of course!!

Liar, liar, your pants are on fire rofl

I seem to recall a story of a container containing a lot of RA gear getting knocked off in Oz a couple of years ago. It's not just surfacing is it?

Wow Wow, is that no drilling I see! I though you needed to drill through the barrel to mount the RA reels, is there something I'm missing from all of this or is it a custom made part that was made by the RA team in South Africa. Can you plz specify for me! thanks!

I have a custom painted Caranx 900 open muzzle with 2x16 bands & a 7mm shaft.

You thought absolutly right armandozx. There is two screws drilled into the barrel where the reels are attached.....I wanted to try a break away system instead of the reel to start with but now I am afraid I will need to plug the two screw holes with something so I dont flood the barrel (can that happen?)

Thanks for the Welcome Coral. Have a friend in SA who didnt mind bringing two spearguns to Europe for me. And since they are really dirt cheap down there it was not hard finding a m8 taking one of my hands....

Hello armandozx! Probably you will be able to help me, I have an Omer 82cm Excalibur, with a 125cm 6.3mm omer shaft, lost it, now I'm using 6.6mm RA 120cm, but I,m missing many shots. Should I use 2 16mm bands or do you think that the trigger mech. has to do with it? Before I was using 18mm bands, now 19mm and still no luck. Thanks, Tomy.

well let's consider this 1st why do you think you are missing the shots? Is it poor aiming on your side or do you think the gun has problems? You're power set up seems normally fine how long is your band? I don't think the trigger mech has anything to do with your shots my friend is the loading fine on your gun?

1- I don't think you need to use 2x16mm bands for such a small gun.
2- Either 18mm or 19mm would do just fine, use this for best results 19mm band x 58cm in length.
3- Work on your aiming you may be shooting from a diff angle that in reality your shots may not be as accurate as you think.

Thanks. I will do that. How about omer tigger with RA shaft?

Tomy.

I am not 100% on there compatibly. You should go to a store with your shaft and check that out your self for better results. Does the shaft lock on the trigger mech? or does it come out? look if you can load the bands on the gun with out any problems like accidental misfires etc then I don't see the problem other wise get the correct shaft for your gun. GL I hope this helps!

It fits fine, I will try with a 58cm band or try to get the original shaft. Thanks a lot, Tomy.
