Hi All

I do know that there are many people in the DB family that appreciate and enjoy viewing great images, and reading interesting bits and pieces about this blue stuff in which we all play.
I am fortunate to have many good friends in Cape Town who have loads of 'aqua-ticity' and ocean time under their belts, and one of those people is Roger Horrocks. Roger is someone whom I met quite recently, but he has been at the forefront of spearfishing and freediving for many years in Natal, and has recently got very involved with underwater photography. I consider it a privilege to now be a fairly regular dive-buddy of Rog, from a learning perspective, as he is one of those people who just has a sense and a passion of the ocean which comes from within.

It has dawned on me that Rog is not on these forums as far as I'm aware, but his website will be of interest to many of you. He has dome amazing dives with Zambezi ( Bull) sharks and Tiger Sharks, as well as a unique concept called 'Marine Trekking', similar to hauling a sled across the Poles, but he pulls a 'sled' thru the ocean. This is not a commercial punt at all, just a superb collection of regularly updated pics and stories which should delight any ocean lover.

What a great idea!

I'd love to do the swimming expedition thing. I've done enough camping out of canoes and kayaks, but would love to do the whole thing in the water.

Did he just use a standard dive kayak to tie everything to, because those I have, or did he have one of those spearing/surfboards? I can't really tell from the photos.

Reminds me of this, old, book I just read: We SWAM The Grand Canyon - By Bill Beer

He is most probably very busy doing some much more interesting things, but he does know Deeper Blue well, because he recommended it to one of the guys who, after praising his photos, asked him for advise on how to improve his freediving capabilities.
