I was trying to figure out how to make a "drop-frame" effect (i.e. make the motion occur in abrupt jumps, like a surveillance tape). The goal was to make action in one of my fils to synch up with the beat of the music.

At any rate, the search took me here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/moviemakersfx.asp

Using the instructions, I managed to make the filter that I wanted. More importantly, the article shows that it is possible to make a lot of custom filters that could be useful for underwater filming (e.g. color correction filters etc.). It takes a little bit of skill with XML, but it's not rocket science.

If anyone is interested, I can post the drop-frame example. Also, if anyone creates some cool effects or transitions, i'd be interested in seeing them.
