Roller enclosed track gun.

Hey guys,
I've decided to make a speargun for my HSC project and was wondering what everyone thought of a combination of roller and enclosed track, in a 1.2m gun for bluewater.

I've recently modified my Rob Allen into a roller gun with one of Emanuel Bova's kits - needless to say I'm in love with it and probably will stick with roller from now on.

I've done plenty of research into the roller concept and know exactly what i'll be doing there, however my main issues are:

-I don't know the positives and negatives of enclosed tracks (to be cut directly into wood)

-I have no idea how to laminate wood

-I need some imput as to whether a roller and enclosed would work together or not

-I need to work out some proper dimensions for my gun, Right now I'm mainly concerned with width and height

Laminating is pretty easy plenty info on the site..
