Hi I am currently looking to upgrade from my 100cm JBL Reaper. Was looking at the Rob Allen roller or the Pathos Sniper Roller or Laser Roller? Which should I get? Whats a better gun of the 2? also if there is another roller I should look into around the same price or cheaper let me know. I'm not looking to spend anymore than what either one of these guns cost. Thanks in advance everyone!!!! Also whats the biggest I should go on a roller, I keep hearing you dont need a 120 or 125 its overkill...

I am also in the same situation as you. I have gone past figuring out which roller is better Pathos Sniper R is a nice gun. I am going with Pathos over Rob Allen for many reasons. ET and a kicker band on the Sniper also the 3 different stretch tabs on the bottom have a look at that and a few videos on youtube one diver speared a huge amberjack with the pathos sniper roller it's powerful and doesn't kick. Its my next gun. I need help figuring out if I'm getting 85cm or 95cm with a 50m or 70m reel what do you think I should get?

Over the last week I have been diving in Gran Canaria with my Pathos Sniper roller 95 and the RA tuna roller 110 of my friend. Here is what I think.
RA is a super nice gun with a lot of power for a roller without a kicker band. The build quality is there and I like the RA roller head a lot, good bearings. The downside is the need for the a load assist! Of course it got lost... anyone out there with good advice on how to not loose this thing is welcome to share it.
I like my Pathos Sniper roller since it is killing lots of fish and is compact for its range. However it does shoot a little bit low at extended range as any roller. The trigger just sucks big time. I hate the damn thing and need to upgrade it with the Ermes sub kit. It has a lot of creep and doesn't release easily and has caused me to miss fire or not fire at all. If you get the Pathos upgrade the trigger from day one.

I would attach the RA load assist to my wrist make a slipknot with dyneema or something similar.
I have a question about the Ermes sub kit trigger upgrade. How easy is it to change the trigger mechanism on the Pathos sniper roller?
And is it a specific Ermes sub trigger kit I need to purchase is it assembled do I just remove the Pathos trigger and replace it with the Ermes? Will it be difficult to do?
Thanks

You need to "open up " the existing trigger and replace the trigger and sear with a new one.

How does your Pathos 95 perform in Gran Canaria waters are you ambushing or is it more open water spearfishing?
I want to see some pictures if you have any I have considered going there for a trip but don't have any local contacts.
I usually go to Greece and sometimes in the UK I live in London.

It performed well as usual. I have been shore diving on shallow reefs up to 17 meters. Both aspetto and agguato depending on species. Plenty of range for me and the 7,5mm shaft delivers a good punch for any fish dwelling the reef.
Sargo are unsafe.
I also carry my seatec 70 for when I switch to hole hunting mode. What kind of pictures would you like to see. You can also pm me for more details.

There may be a better solution coming up soon for upgrading the Pathos trigger.

In that case I would certainly prefer the Pathos above the RA. But that is just personal preference. Regarding size the RA Tuna roller 110 only has about 3cm more band stretch than the Pathos Sniper roller 95.

I'm definitely getting that Pathos I just need to find a supplier with a nice trigger mech replacement that handles the load of that speargun. I have until summer to find the best trigger mech replacement and a diving buddy for Greece or if there is somewhere better that's in the budget count me in.

I simply hook the load assist on my tuna clip (which comes on all RA gun handles). Either that or I use a carabiner on my weight belt and I jus attach it there. I don't put it around my arm as you can easily lose it when fighting a fish.

That looks pretty comprehensive. I'll be working on the roller gun right after we finished installing the new tires and forged wheels plus the brake job on the current truck project. Thanks for these videos.
