This weekend was the SaltFree Double Dip - 13 athletes, three judges and a whole load of behind the scenes helpers, safety divers, scuba safety and volunteers. Even the sun shone for us!

I have a small confession to make - as my first appearance on the UK scene after a surprisingly good few months of diving from me, I was a little nervous as to how I would be received by the British divers. But have to say a big thank you to everyone for making me feel really welcome and at home. It was a small competition, but (like all small things ;-) loads of fun! Well done to Sam and Dave for great organisation - the small details (Double Dips all round and scrummy organic chocolate fudge cake for the top three places, in particular) were very much appreciated!

The next competition in my calendar is Triple Depth in Dahab in October, and I'm hoping to see lots of British divers out there, either to compete, safety dive or just train and enjoy some very different conditions. Book fast though as I hear from Lotta and Linda that it's filling up quickly!

I'm sure Sam will post an official thread of results from SaltFree later - I'll leave the official stuff up to her, but wanted to say thanks to everyone for making my UK debut so much fun!

Big hugs

I was straight after Sara's CW and was watching her... I believe it went like this:
Surface... breathing... breathing... surface protocol...breathing... breathing.... "that was f*cking cold!!!!!!!"

Welcome to our world babe rofl

Actually the water did feel a little cooler than normal, thermocline was at 10m which I thought was a bit higher than normal and probably hovering around 8 degrees at 40'ish.

Cheerio,
Ben

Yeah it's cold.. and dark... but you love it really!

Great weekend guys by the way, it was really great meeting you all. And thanks again for the lift Ben.

Why is the triple depth so far away?! (well not for you Sara) I had such a good time I would love to come down. How much does it cost to get there would you think?

Hey Benny!

Seeing as I'm used to a good 10 degrees warmer (and we're talking SURFACE temp here, not to mention the ridiculous 6 degrees at the bottom) AND I was in a 3ml, I think a few profanities are allowed!

Dave, for your info, it was f***ing cold. On my descent I was wondering how I could train for this and had an interesting vision of me doing apnea walking in a bikini through the refridgeration section of a large supermarket!! Might be worth thinking about for my next visit to cold dark waters.

No probs with mouthfill or equalisation though, which was a result!

Keep diving!

You were only in a 3mm! I thought you at least had a 5mm on. I tell you, if you are diving in those conditions a 6-7mm wetsuit is a thing of beauty
