I am new to all this and have in mind that i have no experience in using a speargun.
I could choose between Cressi Comanche, Salvimar Voodoo rail open, and SeacSub Bolt. I wanted to see all of them in different sizes so I had to wait for some time. Here in Serbia we do not have stores for diving and spearfishing equipment. There are two in Belgrade but the prices are ridiculous.
SeacSub bolt looked nice in the pictures, but in hand looks cheap compared to the other two. Cressi is nice but again plastic parts, line release, trigger and handle is of better quality on Salvimar.
Salvimar Voodoo 95cm looked to long at first. I was stupid enough to foresee the fact that 95cm is barrel alone without the handle and muzzle and that was the reason for thinking that 85 would be the better choice. There was another Voodoo 105cm but that would probably be to much for beginner. Black finish on the barrel looks thick. Plastic parts are all finished nicely, without excess plastic from molds. Auto line release is on the left side but I think it can be put on the right. Safety catch is located behind the trigger, with your thumb you engage it and with the index finger disengage. (if held in right hand) Trigger is very sensitive, very small amount of pressure is enough. There is a screw for adjustment but I did not try it. Butt is removable you just pull it out. With it came monoline and those two crimps for making the loops. Will go today to a local hardware shop to see if they have crimping tool. I made improvised loops and added a piece of line just to see if I could do it right. It was not hard but will see how it will be done in the water. Since it is open muzzle you make a loop with the line that holds t
Shaft that came with the gun is torsion2, 6.25mm from Salvimar. Has 3 points for wishbone. I read some nice things about it but other than that I do not know what to say. Rubber is 18mm, circular with wishbone from Salvimar. Did not expect to be so hard to pull it, so maybe I will get 16mm band just for easier loading until I get a hold of it. There is a remote chance to try it in a pool since an acquaintance of mine is diving instructor.
All I can do now is read about spearfishing and wait for the summer
