Hello there , i am trying to decide between Salvimar predathor vuoto 85 or predathor krypsis 85 or maybe the predathor 85 pro. Mostly shallow spearfishing 3-10m with good visibility. Are there any substancial diferences? What about aiming?
At the moment i am using a pathos 90 carbon and would like 1)the portability of pneaumatics 2) the extra power.
I ve used in the past for 2 years omer airballete 100 (too many problems, no real power reducer (so not for rocky close shots-bented shafts etc)) though very good at aiming, movement on the water and super power gun but not for shallow spearfishing.

Any opinions are wellcomed

That's a good size. I prefer the Vuoto models. 7mm shaft should be great for that gun. I think the Krypsis comes with a 7mm shaft whilst the standard Vuoto comes with a 7.5mm? I'd buy the cheaper version with an extra 7mm spear and just cover the barrel with vinyl wrap (the kind used in car styling), I order mine in all kinds of camo and it's easy to apply, grips great and replaces easily. Never seen the Predathor pro?

Thanks for your reply. I meant the non vuoto predathor plus . My mistake. I just don't know how much is the difference in power with the vuoto 's given the shallow spearfishing i am into.

I find it makes a slight difference in gun balance and shooting noise reduction (which is great for taking multiple fish in a school). There is less loading effort too due to lower required tank pressure for the same spear velocity. Overall not super necessary, nevertheless I swapped my two flooded barrel guns to vacuum and prefer them that way. Flooded barrels are way easier to rinse with fresh water after a days fishing.

Many people say that the vacuum cuffs don't last long but I'm on year three on one of my Salvimar seals and it's like new. I give a squirt of silicone lube on them for longer term storage and polish the spear shafts with a fine sandpaper every now and then.

Thanks again it's clear to me

The Predathor Plus just means the gun has the power regulator. When first introduced the Vintair guns which the Predathor guns are an evolution of were differentiated by calling the single power gun the Vintair and the dual power gun the Vintair Plus and that continued on with the Predathors. The Krypsis is essentially a camo barrel/tank tube finish.

Around reefs you may like a screw on tip, these are better as you can replace the tip unlike the situation with a tahitian shaft. The shorter models use 8 mm shafts which are screw tips. The vacuum barrel guns need a better surface finish spear and these are spring stainless, but unfortunately most are integral tip shafts and are usually 7 mm or 7.5 mm. You can check it out on the Salvimar on-line buyer's guide for 2023 to 2024.

Thanks a lot ! You are right about the screw ontip and rocky shallow waters-reefs so I finally ordered yesterday after searching the useful information in this forum the predathor vuoto 75 as it's really an 82 cm(around 100cm armed I think) alongside with an extra threaded shaft 7mm, and a pack of 3 vacuum seals. Anyway i hope I' ll have a real range of about 3 - 3,5 m from tip on full power.

Something to look at for others asking similar questions.
