San Diego Locations

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I'm not savvy with the search function adequately enough yet...

Does anyone know of any locations in the SoCal area that are easy access for non boat/kayak owners?

I'm craving to get my feet wet but don't know of any "car to water" areas around here yet.

spearfishing, or freediving?
La Jolla Shores and at La Jolla Cove can have excellent freediving. The cove has a lot of reef mixed with sand. The Shores have sand out to the edge of the canyon, then lots of really deep water.
For spearfishing, try the outside beach at Children's Pool (just south of the cove), Wind and Sea, and the rocky reefs south of Pacific Beach.
