I read that he warded off the shark with his speargun. Is it legal to spear on Scuba in Australia??

The other article doesn't say anything about a speargun at all, only that he hid on the bottom with his buddy with a POD and the bitey disappeared.
I think it is legal to spear in WA on scuba but check with crusty he will know.

Legal to spear on scuba in Western Australia, illegal in NSW and Queensland, though i'm not sure of Victoria or the other states/territories.

He was hunting crays at the time, but it illigal to spear crays. Spearing on scuba is legal here, but not very efficient as the noise of scuba normally scares them away.
