Does anyone in Santa Cruz have any friends or themselves that would be willing to let a rookie join their dives?
I have a float and a reef gun but I need a place to use it. a lot harder that so cal. Any help would be awesome!
my number is 8312952143

Start by taking a freediving course. That way you learn the basics to remain safe and provide proper assistance as a buddy.
Owning a speargun and float are not your priorities when you want to learn spearfishing.

There is a Facebook group called Monterey Spearfishing. I am sure you could meet people there. Also join the North California Underwater Hunters forum.

The Monterey Bay Tritons club would be another place to meet people.
