Well,
Prime8 and I got together this weekend for a spot of spearing. We decided to head out to sask to the Meadow Lake Prov. Park, to Pierce Lake the first day. There we saw shitloads of suckers, shot 4 of them and 2 big walleye. With a short and thin wetsuit i got cold within 2 hours and eventually due to the current we tired out.

The next day we went downstream to an estuary where there were tons of small perch no bigger than 4" and Pike. We got 3 Pike in about 2 hours, but they were pretty small.

Very nice! We might be heading to that very spot this long weekend.
Where did you guys stay at Pierce?

BTW those suckers are great eating.

I only live 1hr approx away from the lake so we just stayed at my place. If you go there beware the current. It was pretty strong.

Were you diving near the river inlets and outlets? I havent been in that lake. We have done other lakes in the Park but I'm not familiar with this one. I have heard from anglers that it is very clear.

Ya we went to an outlet on the first day and an inlet on the other day. It was maybe 15 ft vis on both dys some places much less. If you decide to go on the 1st or 2nd I'll come too if you want. I'm always looking for buddies to spear with.

I can't get out there until the 3rd, but it looks like that's where we're headed. I have a spare suit and guns etc too.

I see. I'll see if I gave that day off. I might be teaching swimming lessons so I might not be able to.

Well it looks like my schedule is clear on the 3rd. If you go give me a call and I'll be there in a jiffy!

Well I went today to the same spot and 100m past downstream and shot 2 big pike and a big sucker. Both pike were over 2 ft and he sucker was about the same size. Biggest sucker I've seen yet. Total time 35mins in the water because it got cold and low vis. I used line and rod then and got nothing, but my brother caught 2 more pike. Overall great day again in sask.

yes, those fish tasted great. his family cooks fish very nicely. it would be better if suckers came in a boneless variety though... lol

The only people I've met that enjoy eating suckers are old Ukrainians that pickle everything, LOL
