Hi mates,

Due to professional commitments i dont have had much time to dive :waterwork
But this saturday, me and my friend Alex went to a quick dive close to home.

The sea wasn't that good poor visibility, strong with some waves...but after almost 3 hours without seing anything good to catch, i've made a dive at -9 mts and in a cave i see this beauty "crab" i dont know the name in English, here in Portugal we call it Santola

And after this dive, when doing a wait at -7 mt i look to my right side and i saw a octopus swimming :hmm and i just had to slowly move my gun in a 45º angle and shoot.

So in the end it wasnt that bad! and tomorrow i will post the pictures of a great dinner with both of the catches

Cheers,
Marco

Marco is a chef par excellence!
This next summer mate with luck! :friday

We call the crabs 'Spider Crabs' over here in the UK ,id say they have become much more prolific here over the last decade and i enjoy eating these very much , however it's not popular for eating here by the general british population : like most of our seafood:head
Its just a real shame that most of our population would much prefer a MCdonalds:yack:yack instead of a MCerieiro rofl

We get lots of spiders in the Channel Islands. They used to be exported to spain!!

I prefer them to other crab and lobster the meat is really sweet. I like the picked meat mixed with fresh breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, garlic, chili, olive oil, fresh choped basil, tomato concasse and seasoning in a hot oven till piping hot through. Served with a nice cold glass of vinho verde.......delicious

Well when they are full of eggs and meat over the shell i don't put any more ingredient with it...i simple take a spoon and mix all those eggs and meat from the shell yammy!

And i let it for 15 min in the fridge before serving it!

Andy you are right mate it's wonderfull with some Vinho Verde or even better with a Portuguese "champagne" called Murganheira

Cheers,

Marco

It does actually How the hell did you cut that shell Marco?

Thue crabs in Portuguese called "Santola" are really delicious and they are my favourite seafood

Its easy to cut, becase the crab's body is softer in that place, with a kitchen knife you just have to separate the bottom (2 white parts in the picture) from the shell.

cheers,
Marco

rofl when these threads get separated that post will look awful weird rofl but it's very funny now Nothing much gets past Marco

pastor I think you've been hangin around that italian guy too muchrofl

Ah, settingsteel posted on your other thread, where is the octopus, then he looked here and found it. I thought it was funny the way he said " there it is" and now he is making fun of me
