I am running a course in November with Steve Millard. It will be a Saturday or Sunday, still to be finalised. It will be a whole day. Classroom time and pool time. We are limited with numbers to 8 maximun.
It will be geared towards people new to Freediving. There will be a qualification at the end of it.
We are doing this with a view to forming a new group in the Lanarkshire and surrounding area.
Initial contact can be with Steve directly or on here via myself.
Be quick to avoid dissapointment.

A bit late to the party but I'm in Aberdeen and looking to get into freediving here. Did your course go well... do you think you'll be looking to do something similar in future, or do you think it would be worth trying to arrange something more locally? I would be happy to do this if there's interest, but may benefit from knowing how your course went.

There's an aquatic centre in Aberdeen that has opened in the past couple of weeks - 50M x 10 lanes and a 5m deep dive pool so would probably be good if a dive club could get a practice slot there (I imagine it would need a certified instructor for them to be willing to do this though). There's also Aberdeen quarry which was bought over privately not so long ago and would probably be fantastic for some open water dives (I don't think they have it earmarked for any particular use at the moment).

Our first course was last November. It went really well.
As a group we train on a Monday night at bellshill pool as it has a 4m deep end.
It would be great if you could start a group up there. The pool you mentioned sounds great.
I suggest you come on our course with Steve Millard on June 7th. It's a whole day thing. It'll get you started properly and give you the credibility to convince the people at the pool it's safe and you know what you're doing.
It's a fantastic journey. It'll push you to your limits but gently and safely.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers, William.

Thanks William, that sounds great. Just let me know the details and I'll try to make sure I make it along.

Thanks again - Chris

The course is part 1 of the AIDA 2star Freedive qualification.
Part one is classroom and pool based.
We'll start about 10.30-11am. 3 hours in the class. Going over the pre course study work(breath hold, equalisation, safety and the various disciplines).
Then 3-4 hours in the pool. Doing statics, dynamics, rescue, etc.
Then usually another hour in the class and finish with an exam.
Before you turn up on the day you'll will have practiced the breath hold technique.
We can only handle 6 on the course as we will only have one instructor. This guarantees all the attendees get a good pool session.
The instructor is Steve Millard. One of the top Freedive coaches in the uk.
The course is very intensive. You will be pretty tired by the end of the day but you will be in a position to start a group in your area such that Steve can come to Aberdeen.
The cost of the course is £120. This covers pool, class and travel costs from Manchester.
To book your place contact Steve directly there is a £50 deposit required to guarantee we don't over book the spaces.
Our course last year was £150.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers. W.

That sounds great. I will submit a request for funds and day release to my Finance Manager/Parole Officer (wife), but if you could pencil me in I will try to get back to you in the next few days about payment.

Will do.
If you decide you can attend I'll forward Steve's details, email, PayPal, etc.
as soon as you do that he will email the study and practice info to you.
Good luck. :)))
Cheers. W.
