Scuba diver from Dundalk, Ireland

Hi guys, looking forward to chatting with you all in the coming months. I'm 47 and have been diving mostly Atlantic / Irish Sea for the last 7 years. I'm always interested in diving whenever I'm on holiday so looking forward to getting some ideas from the experts on Deeperblue. Cheers and talk soon

Welcome to Deeperblue. Do you have a regular dive site, or do you have to make a special trip? I have to travel a couple of hours to reach anything worthwhile.

Hi BatRay, thanks for the welcome. I live on the Irish Sea Coast and our dive club of about 45 members try to get out weekly(30 min drive). Our main site is a 25 m wall which was cut from the seabed 40 years ago when forming a new channel into a local inlet. Conger eels, lobster, wrasse, blennies, very occasional octopus would be general fare. These waters are quite tricky, strong currents coming in and out of inlet and poor viz , from 1m to 10 on a v good day .
From April - Oct we try to get across Ireland to Donegal (Atlantic coast) which is exceptional. Wrecks ,walls, it has it all and viz is much better. 20-30 metres.
I'm afraid of becoming v jealous but what's the viz & wildlife on West coast, my be coming to San Fran soon.
