A couple of times I have felt sea sick whilst spearfishing.

I just wondered if any one else experiences this and if so if they have any tips.

I dive in the UK.

I ware a hood whilst spearfishing though I also ware the same hood when scuba diving and do not feel sick.

It is worse when swiming over kelp but I do get it other times too.

Any ideas?

Here on the forum EricFattah posted a natural solution how to overcame the sea sickness, you may try it:
The best therapy for sea-sickness, and the most healthy, is ginger. For it to work, you need high dose ginger. I recommend juicing a block of raw ginger, and take 50ml of the juice, mixed with 500ml of water and some sugar and lemon juice. You can also use club-soda or bubbly water, and it will taste like a ginger soda.

I used to always feed the fish. It tends to happen about after 4 or 5 drops. When I surface, I want to puke. Mine is due to allergies and clogging of the sinuses. I went in for a scan of my sinuses and all is well. So I always make sure I eat something and chew well. Since mine is due to allergies, I take some time released decongestant and use Nasarel. Rarely have any problems now unless very surgy conditions.

I have felt a little queasy when spearing; only when in shallows over kelp in swells--I look down and feel like the bottom is sliding around underneath me. I usually just move to deeper water. It is worse if I am even slightly overheated (rare out here but it has happened a few times in summer).

You can also try ginger tablets.

Another thing is to make sure you are well hydrated before you enter the water also, a very light meal about 30 min before you dive may help to settle your stomache.

I used to suffer really badly from it, it used to ruin a lot of trips for me.

I always take a couple of Stugeron 15 tablets if there's any hint of a swell. You can buy them in any pharmacy.

Stugeron 15mg Travel Sickness - 15 Tablets

I also found that wearing a weights vest and rubber weights belt helped to shift pressure away from my stomach. Ive never felt sick since!

If you do take the tablets, be careful of a post dive beer... I usually go straight to sleep after one pint! :D
