Hey guys,

Any of you had to deal with seasonal chronic allergies, cough, running nose and low energy? This is a big problem for me every start of the Winter and Spring. Pool training does not help, because of the chlorine and temperature changes between the indoor pool area and locker rooms. I just begun a new cycle of training with frequent pool sessions to train DYNBf and technique and had to stop for a couple of days because I was feeling really bad with the symptoms. Any ideas about ORL doctors specialized in freedivers? What is your protocol to manage this problem? Any help is welcome!

I grew up with and had constant allergies as an adult (dust mite allergies). My nose was sensitive enough to get allergies while wearing my mask and pinching my nose for dives. It eventually gave me bad middle-ear infections as fluids got pushed past my eustachian tubes. I solved it by taking Zyrtec pills AND Nasacort nose sprays daily. Both over the counter meds. Completely eliminated my allergies. It takes a couple weeks to work, but it's been going very well years in.

It's best to see an allergist if you haven't already seen one. They'll be able to recommend something appropriate for you.

I also tested a bunch of different OTC allergy medicine before settling on Zyrtec.

Best of luck.

Thank you for taking time to reply. I know Zyrtec, I’m surprised that they sell it OTC over there, here you need a doctor prescription. Safe dives!

The best you have to do is stay out of diving while you have the problem, swimming is ok! I don't know about doctors but diving while having infections will only make you worst!
Keep in mind that when you have rhinitis the sea water makes it worst! It's better to use intravenous infusion !
