Yes, I think there's a small "nipple" inlet valve under the rubber cover. Judging from the size, it's the type used early on in PCP airguns (the pellet ones) and the hose will have a female quick release. Pretty much the same system as in a garden hose, just smaller and stronger. I think it sometimes goes by the name Forster (though I think it may not be entirely correct to use that name for them).
I use the same on my ScubaFill scuba tank adapter and also on my fridge compressor and also had an idea to put on in the grip of my upcoming handle.
I took measurements of one long time ago and have used those to make my parts and they have held up and never come undone under pressure. In case anyone needs them:
