Yesterday something very scary happened to me, or something very cool - haven’t decided which yet.

I was lying on my bed and reading a book for almost six hours. During this time I only moved once – to drink some water. When the six hours hade past, I noticed that my pulse rate was very low – so I thought: Why not do a maximum static without any preparations. (=no ventilations)

I sat my watch, took one deep breath, did some packing and then closed my eyes.

If I remember correctly my contractions started after 20sec, although I didn’t pay them any attention until around 2min. The minute that followed I remember as EXTREMELY hard. Next stage I can recall is the last 30sec. I’m then not feeling my contractions, so I’m putting my hand on my stomach to confirm them, and yes, it’s moving. (A very strange feeling!!) I got so amazed that I forgot that I was holding my breath. A few seconds later air is forced out of my mouth.

My weird maximum static lasted for 4+ min. (The exhale surprised me, and I might have stopped the watch a bit too late – don’t remember).

During my recovery breathing, my mobile rang. In an instant I got off the bed, and then I fell down – I hade no energy left. (Or maybe just low blood pressure?)

So can you help me out? Was it something scary or something cool that happened to me? Or just something in the ordinary? What do you think happened? Have something similar ever happed to you?

/Rahel :t

I’ve done over 5min with ventilation in water. Do not know how LMC feels like. Recently I’ve been introduced to breath holds that have included memory lost. Tunnel vision is something familiar.

But this, this was just freaky!!

PS. I got blue lips!! Never hade that before!! I’m black..

Hi Rahel,

It is very unusual to have contractions after 20sec! Are you sure the timing was right?
I think it might have been some sort of LMC.
Memory loss, tunnel vision and air being forced out are signs of being close to LMC. (And falling down too!)

Anyway, welcome to Deeperblue and dive safe. :)
I hope you have a buddy with you in the water at all times.
