seems like i got the wrong gun!

was told 75cm gun is standard length used in british waters managed to get on well with 2 different guns over my first weekend of spearfishing, went and ordered a gun which said good for begginers

bugger me if i cant load it, no way near, and it just feels sooo much longer than the others that i tried!
should i have been looking out for something that gave me a clue as to how hard this is to load or something........... would i be better going for 60cm?
i am female but surely im not that lame!!??! ahhh, any help as to what to do, or if i need to start again, any advice on gun for us? mostly lurking in weed down on the beautiful jurasic coast, thanks
 
Do you struggle to Load it because of the length?? If so there is a special technique used to load long guns, it involves holding the handle in one hand and gripping one of the rubbers in the other hand. You then slide the handle into your chest and then grab the other rubber with your spare hand and continue to load.

Around the Jurassic coast a 75cm is ideal and when the Vis is really good a 90cm gun can be very effective.

Nic, your new gun comes with 18mm bands, when you borrowed my gun it had 16mm bands fitted but was the same length as your new gun.
You can just buy new 16mm bands to make it easier to load & then use the 18mm ones once you have mastered the technique required to load them.
I am not sure what Alix uses but anyway it is mostly about confidence, commitment & technique... get some 16mm bands ...... go girl you can do it....

hello dear i see you got some good advice here but i think u dont ned to get another 16mm band i think that would be a waste of money cuz sooner you will get used to load the 18 mm i have a 75 cm gun with 20 mm bands at tell u what at first i thought like am never gonna be able to load it was too hard but you know i found it all about the technique you need to put the gun on your chest and hold the bands from the middle of it not from the wishbone or close to it try it from a lil bit far from the wishbones that will give you more power this is how it worked with me after watching some tutorials on you tube hope it works with ya too

I believe Alix uses a 75cm gun with standard 18mm rubbers, but she has been spearfishing a long time. As Mart says, its all in the technique and practice. Go and swap to the 16mm rubbers for a season or two. You'll still get lots of fish!
 
Thanks fur all bits of advice, so with my new skinny bands easy peasy to load n last night got me my first fish with it......... 5.1lb bass!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!

Yes, I can confirm that nic bagged herself her first fish last night; a magnificant bass of just over 5lb!! Weighed on my digital scales fantastic fish, well done and nice to meet you last night; albeit breifly.
