I fancy northern cali every year and have found the sport of abalone (abs) and just decided this year to see if I could get my feet wet in spearfishing. I bought a 45 cm spear gun for 2 reasons I read that they are nice for small spaces and also for kelp beds they are good and won't get tangled...well in fort brag and sea ranch where I go, it's awfully thick. Can anyone walk me through what I would need to set up my spear gun? Hence I'm brand new and won't be shooting 1000 lb sharks. Most like a few lings and rockfish. Do I need a reel? Do I need a bungee? What's the best line? I can take pictures and place them on here if needed. Thanks
