Hi there,

Got a Rabi (Not Apex) handle from my friend. Hehe~lucky me!!

I bought a 120cm aluminum barrel and put two shaft guides on the barrel to improve its accuracy....hope it works....
BTW I am also planning to buy 90cm aluminum for low visibility fishing.
My friend gives me a 150 cm stanless shaft but it seems a bit short for 120cm barrel.
Could anyone advise the correct shaft length for 90cm and 120cm barrel??

Thanks.

THe rule is 40 cms longer that the tube.
So for a 120 you will need a 160 shaft.

Hi Asturven,

Thanks for your reply. I got it.

i have a rabitech apex 120 the shaft length is 165 cm

rule of thumb is 10 inches(aprox25cm) longer than the trigger release to muzzle, for 36 inch (90cm guns). i think 44 inch(110 rule) is about 13 inches 40 cm but these are only guides, i dont think there is a law of physics for this.

Marwans measurements add up to these also so must be something in it

Trust me my measurements are true, ill let you know why:
I have a riffe gun bag that is 160 cm in length, whenever i pack the rabitech, i always end up with 5cm of shaft protruding from the zipper :) :) oops didnt mean it that way :) but ill just leave it there
cheers

Probably less critical for a railgun than a rail-less gun (where the overhang needs to balance the droop in the middle of the spear between supports). Thought Grouper Madness' post was interesting. I have heard the 40cm rule a lot but it seemed like that over lap might be reduced some for very short guns (and apparently increased for very long ones) to keep things in scale...and because usually you'll want a short gun to be pretty short & a long one to be pretty long overall.

Perhaps folk also get used to the 40cm sticking out when aiming too (although I aim down the side, so the tip is not playing much of a role). Varying from the factory equipped size might also effect the balance of the gun.

Thanks Dave

Better write to Beauchat and complain that they sold me my 90 with a short spear. Still as it is 14 years ago, maybe things shrink with age.

Oh yes I'm afraid they do. :D
