Shark Sports is going to organize a new freediving competition in January. It will be a dynamic only competition in Eindhoven, The Netherlands and it will be pretty special.

Depending on the number of freedivers attending we will organize two separate dynamic competitions, so that everybody gets a change to do 2 attempts in the dynamic discipline the want to do.

Furthermore we’re setting up a live broadcasting service at this competition that will feature underwater following, judge cam, overview cam, live commentary and results. We’re also going to make use of the very special feature this pool has: virtual training system (watch for more info and a look into the pool) So if you want a very high res 100% followed underwater video from your dynamic performance, then join the comp!

Places will be limited so be fast to subscribe. More details below

Place: Eindhoven, The Netherlands
Date: 23 January
Pool: 50 meter, 2.20 meter deep, 26 degrees
Costs: 25 euro for two official starts (including underwater video of your performances)

Schedule (for now):
14:00 Opening
15:00 Official Top first competition
17:30 Official Top second competition
19:00 End of competition
20:00 Food / Party / Prizes / Fun

More info in the coming week on a special page. If you can’t wait to subscribe and want to make sure you are in, then mail me at jorg.jansen@gmail.com and I’ll reserve you a spot and send you an email as soon as the subscribe page is up.

Jorg, from the video, I think you should avoid lane 4. The one closest to the camera wall. Avoid this lane because the camera's are focussed to the surface and divers may swim below the view/frame because you are to close to the camera's.

Secondly, have you got a "dart-cam" UW Cam system operator to do the recording, I reckon it's needed because of the specialised software and divers not able to do a take 2 ;)

Thirdly, I don't know if I can have the day off, but when possible can I come and coach / watch for free?

Hi Kars. Yeah, if you want to be on the video you need to be in lane 3. The tracking software is configured like that. Too bad we can't use the system this weekend. It's being updated to HD video quality, but we do a special session in februari and a competition again in march where we will use this video software for sure.

No problem if you want to be a spectator or coach! But if you want to do some recreational freediving in the pool, I need to ask for a fee. hope you understand. Cheers.

There's a bummer here to, didn't get the day off...
So best dives to everyone, and I'm sure Jorg likes to swim along chasing every participant holding his camera steady throughout some amazingly long dives. Good training in itself I can tell ya! You may want to use some compressed air because chasing a monofinner in 2nd person view past a 100m can be challenging ... ;)

In hindsight I may be able to be present for the second heat.

See you.

In 90 minutes the competition will start. We've got 4 cameras setup which will bring you live footage above and underwater. Also live discussion box and results. All can be found on Live | Shark Freediving

LOL I did 200 dynamic and got a white card. Very surpriced it happened today with the green stuff in my head. :)

Just a question before adding the results to the ranking: I do not see the competition on the AIDA Calendar, so I assume it is not officially "ranking", but were there official AIDA judges present? If so, who were they? And what was the location of the competition? Eidhoven?

Judges: Erik Skoda (E), Susan Kluytmans (C)
Location: Eindhoven
Ranking: AIDA said no, because they said they didn't receive my email from December 17... :head But the latest thing is not yet said about this.

All in all a great competition! Only 8 freedivers, but I think they all agree that it is the best pool in the world!

Next competition halfway March.

Thanks, Jorg, for the details.

Actually, I think AIDA lost quite a big part of email sent to their Gmail account. I have contacted dozens of organizers of competitions that I did not find the results anywhere, and many of them told me they have already sent the results earlier. I suspect the agressive Gmail anti-spam control filtered many of them. I have now white-listed addresses of all people who sent an email previously to the AIDA Ranking address, and will regularly check the spam folder too (although it grows rapidly), so hopefully it won't happen too often anymore.

Jorg, do you have a more complete result list than the one online? At most competitors, there is just the first name, and also some of the penalties are not quite clear. Did Eric crawl on the pool bottom all along in DNF? Or what does it mean 29x pulling -145? :D

Yes I update the result list today with all the complete info

Eric crawled all the way over the floor during his dnf... I think it took him 3:30 for one 50 meter lane... crazy guy
