Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thresher shark (the common thresher, that is) is a sustainable fishery off the coast of California. The DFG monitors it very closely.

We also get Black Tip commercially here in Texas and frozen Mako.
 
Dog fish also sharks, sort of, probably most abundant species here in coastal BC. Sometimes can't get the baited hook to the bottom for a good fish to bite, those darn dogggies will be right on it. They are okay to eat once in a while, not my first choice though.
