Hi All

The movie Sharkwater has just opened at a film festival in Capetown, and it left me feeling lifted by amazing visuals, yet deeply saddened by what the demand for shark fins and money is doing to the shark poulation of the planet.
Ironically, the media's favourite 'scourge', the Great White, is probably the safest shark around as it's protected, whilst thousands of Reef sharks, Black tips, and every species including WHALE SHARKS are being targeted for fins.:rcard

A beautifully filmed film, and a must see if you get the opportunity. Another irony is that the entire audience virtually was made up of those who do'nt need to hear this story, ie, conservationists, shark researchers, marine biologists, oceanographers etc. We need the shark haters to be there to hear the truth!!

I really wanted to see this film, but I guess I have to wait till I can get it on DVD.

I went and seen this film in Toronto before I left (back in April). It really made me think about the entire situation. I didn't know it was that bad.

I agree there are a lot of amazing visuals. At the end he freedives but I couldn't stop noticing he had his snorkel in the entire dive! haha. I liked the end of the movie, that was a very neat technique.

bought this film on amazon after i seen a trailer

totaly eye opening film brilliantly shot

and as the costa rican demonstrations were shown i was quite moist around the eyes ... what a wus .. i know .. modern men eh..lol

That movie is the closest I have ever come to crying. Such a meaningful message. A must see for any diver.
