Just hearing on the news about a gunman or three letting loose at a large school, 6 injured and 3 critical. 3 of the gunmen have shot themselves, dead I hope.
Not good stuff at all, sometimes I despair at the human race :(

Update: One gunman, killed by police but not, unfortunately, before he managed to kill a young woman and one other person and wound a bunch more. No further details like who was he, what did he have in mind, did he know any of his victims; just that he looked like the sort of pierced, black-trenchcoated, socially estranged Goth sort that we usually imagine doing something like this. Dreadful, just dreadful.

The firearm owning community in Canada (I am a member) is horrified at this senseless violence and all bracing for the negative knee-jerk legislation that will soon follow. those that know our firearms laws will know that following a school shooting in 1989 in Montreal a TWO BILLION DOLLAR gun registry was put into effect. seems it really worked eh? our tax dollars hard at work. I feel bad for the victims. I feel worse for the windfall.

because a Quebec police officer shot and killed the suspect all information regaurding his weapons, and identification is not being released. this is due to an Internal Affairs (Quebec equivilent) investigation. the typically left leaning dramatic canadain press is doing their standard job of rattling off lots of unsubstaniated reports about the incident. I encourage all those interested in these events to wait untill the Montreal Police ans S.Q. have released their findings.

20 wounded, 11 in hospital (Critical), 1 female, age 20, dead.

How about outlawing Mohawk haircuts and black trenchcoats? Those obviously contributed to his sociopathology.

Sarge i could get into a long winded debate over this one.

I was a Mohawk headed, Dock Martin, Punk Rock loving little bastard ( before it became Fashonable)

And i turned out O.K ( i think)

This is Bad and nothing good is going to come out of it.

If this kid could Murder and it takes allot to actually kill someone he was way of the rails without much help from anything else.

Very sad Day for Canada

Sounds like someone who is a fan of V (V for Vendetta)

:( I hate that these things happen. It's always followed by laws and regulations that can never change what has happened. My condolences.

I loved "V for Vendetta", the movie, and I had a Mohawk, for short time, back in college! I've never taken up arms against anything bigger than a deer.

On the flip side, I have had more than one of my former grade school students shot in senseless violence- some while sitting at their kitchen table eating dinner!

Don' want to turn this into another political discussion as view points will vary widely on this issue I guarantee.

Prayers and good wishes go out to all of those injured, or killed, in this horrible, senseless, act of violence.

yeah teh V for Vendetta was great, i thought he was so sexy, and i was dying to see his face !

I don't know how sexy "he" was, but Natalie Portman was hot!

As far as my mohawk went let me tell you this- don't ever get drunk with river guides in Colorado! rofl

Obviously, I left out the smilie after my post. That wasn't meant to be taken seriously! Deepest apologies, all. Personally, I'd love to have enough hair to grow a Mohawk.

BTW, I knew a Mohawk in grad school, genuine descendent of high-steel working 100% pure tribe member . . . who married a blond! Funny that you should be in this discussion, Sara! :D :rofl

Hmm... I like 'V' a lot, had a mohawk at one time, was a punker in 1978, metalhead (still), play HALO. No shootings! j/kidding Sarge, your sarcasm was obvious.

Condolences to those impacted, and kudos to the police that did an outstanding job.

Erik

I never had a mohawk. But I did want to kill everybody.
8 hours of Yoga a day helped me focus my rage into a vision so apocalyptic that it became impossible to take seriously.

Parents need to stop telling their kids 'just ignore it' - and give them something real to work with.

Haven't seen 'V' yet - but I will now. (the last 'Matrix' put me off those guys)

I haven't seen V yet either. I've been avoiding Natalie Portman's movies since the Star Wars trilogy, and that one when her character had the baby at Wal-Mart. Hugo Weaving, though, attractive in a strange sort of way:inlove especially his voice.

Natalie is awesome in V, and was so in The Professional too when she was little. The Star Wars movies stunk, even making Ewan and Liam look lame.
V is slower and more subtle, well directed methinks.
Sorry off topic.
Erik

Yeah, The Professional was quite good. I've seen several movies where my sofa would give a better performance than Portman, but she was good in that one.
There was one part where Liam had some individuality in the first Star Wars flick. He was saying 'hut hut' or clicking to a camel-creature. It was the only interesting moment in the entire film.

George Lukas, as a director, can make anyone look really bad. The Professional is a great movie, Jean Reno is great and Gary Oldman is a terrifying freak.

I read up some on this school shooting. I think it's really important not just to brand the kid who did it but to see him a manifestion of larger patterns. It's not about gun control either. There has been a real obliteration of objective morality - with a corresponding growth in the emotionally warped repression that presumes to take it's place. Kids are not getting what they need to develop real conscience.

No, they aren't. Many of my families are educators, and they've seen the trends toward violence, disrespect, and lack of conscience. It's frightening.
