I like to think I'm a placid person, but this really got my back up....
I have fished this area & this seems like a fairly organised outfit. TO$$€R.

I'm quite new to spearfishing in the UK but my understanding was that no scuba gear was allowed?

Correct & even more worrying is if you notice the gear onboard, camo suit, spare guns & catch net hanging below the boat etc, this is a well organised session. I doubt this is the first time this half wit has done this.

More videos from this numpty on Youtube of Spearing with scuba including scalloping at Loch Fyne. Seems like a massive haul to me

There is a saying in the shooting field that if you shoot the head the arse dies on its own, looks the same with spearfishing. Not meaning to get on a soap box or whatever but I think anybody posting videos with a speargun in their hand is an ambassador for the sport whether intentional or not, so at least play by the rules and have compassion for your catch by dispatching them ASAP.

I must have missed that regulation somehow in the last few years. I would appreciate if you could point us to it. Cheers.
Yep my mistake.
IMO spearfishing with scuba is just for the weak & greedy.

I am really curious to know if he does that for commercial purposes - as number of scallops far exceeds the needs of (even large) family.
And if he does it for commercial gain - I would assume he needs to have some kind of commercial fishing licence and to pay income tax?

No doubt he looks very well setup for this, no Heath Robinson affair! Looks very commercial to me. I not 100% sure that scuba spearfishing is illegal, just very frowned upon. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't agree with what he's doing but there's no by catch there's nothing getting thrown back in dead ,crushed to death in a net killing damaging every thing in its path it's very selective and green and save on time fule ect .Who s doing wrong ?he must be making a double killing !shame really.

I'm not sure he's doing anything illegal spearing with scuba and AFAIK there is no limit for hand dived scallops.
What he's doing is maybe not to a lot of people's liking, for many reasons, but in the grand scheme of things his impact is negligible. Not sure that makes him a tosser?
This sort of thing happens many times every day around the UK -

If you eat bought fish ( farmed or wild) or eat chicken, beef, lamb etc. you are directly contributing to this which has an infinitely bigger impact on fish stocks and marine pollution than some bloke with tanks and a gun. It's all relative and perhaps I would rather see him scuba spearing than setting nets to catch fish?
I'd also suggest from my experience of how fish react when scubies appear in the area that a good freediving spearo is capable of catching more fish, and many do.
