Hi all, I'm new to this malarkey and need to buy some equipment. I have a gun a thunder 75 which has sat in my garage for 3 years, so I think it's time to use it. I went snorkelling off welcombe and bucksmills last weekend and really enjoyed it, but the problem is I had my wife's bright pink flippers(her words not mine) on and a bright pink weight belt. I have masks and things from when I use to scuba, so what I'm looking for is a wetsuit, fins, float and any other trinkets I need. So what I'm looking for is a shop where I can go to try on said items to make sure they fit ok and not have the hassle of buying on line only to send them back because something is not quite right. Also I would like to gain some knowledge off someone who knows what there talking about, not just trying to make a sale and relieve me of my hard earned dosh. I live in the Bucksmills area of North Devon and not afraid to travel to a descent shop. Thanks for your time.

Bucks mills is a known breeding area for the increasing population of mako sharks and there is also a very aggressive and teritorial bull seal. I would stay well away from that area ;).

Not aware of any spearfishing shops in that area. If you promise to ditch the pink fins and belt I will give you a shout when I'm diving the area next. Usually down at least once a fortnight. Forget bucks mills it is really really really really crap there as the sharks and nasty seals have eaten just about every single fish.

Cheers speero. Didnt know about the seal or sharks, but Defo not many fish about, but managed to get 5 nice spider crabs for me tea. As for a dive together I would really appreciate it as the fins and belt will hopefully be gone next weekend. Looking like a trip down paington is on the cards. Cheers

Get omer footpockets with fibre glass blades.

Then as for the rest of your gear get hold of Picasso UK.

Put a post up in Dorset thread if u want to get hold of kev and Greg directly.

Picasso wetsuits are about the best warmest flexible Spearo suits on the market. And the guns are top notch.

Oh....just to save u earache: some peeps get upset when naming fishing spots a bit territorial like the seal. So use the the personal message facility to talk about specific spots.

Also if you catch 15-20 big bass, just say you had 4 or 5 and post up a PIC of a select few.

Good luck with the shopping spree. Hopefully catch up when you've replaced the gay fins.

Gay fins have gone back in storage until I can confidently come out of the closet. Got wetsuit, fins and float and few other bits. In the end I went to venture sport paington, bloke was sound as a pound and took his time to sort me out even though there were other customers waiting and shopping doing a grand job. So hope to get out soon.
