Looking for my first pnuematic, for Mullet in bad viz,2/3 meters.I've never owned or used an air gun ,would something in the 60 to 70 cm size fit the bill for this type of work? and if so which gun. (tax rebate of 800 yoyos on the way:))I've also heard a bit about dry kits, aare these and advantage on a small cheapish gun ??

A 70 cm air gun is what it implies & unlike band guns defines the actual length of the weapon.
So in my opinion - a 70 airgun is pretty short & would be ideal but a 60 is just to short to hold enough power!
There are plenty folk on the forum who use even shorter guns & they well may disagree with me however I like to use powerful guns that have decent penetrating power, enough to send a spear through the gill plates of a 10 bass would be my minimum requirement because you just never know what might come along.
So on that basis a 70 air gun with a dry barrel kit would be in fact a very powerful &nice gun to own... Which model to buy depends on your budget, a model with a power regulator is nice or an Omer Aibalette would be nice too..
Having said all that I dont think you can own an airgun in Ireland without a license?

Thanks for the reply Foxfish, its hard to get info on air guns they seem to be a bit of a taboo subject for some reason, its nearly like passing over to the dark side by even asking about them,or like Fightclub.
I agree about being undergunned, thats why i'm fancying a 65/70,quick on the draw with a bit of clout just in case.
I have a .270 stalking rifle so a ickle air gun should be easy enough to get.
sl,airblade ,cyrano,which one ???

I would ask on the Ireland thread about licenses first as there has been lots of discussion before, I think there is some complication about importing them or something else maybe?

Peopl often critize the most on things they dont know or understand. You need to consider adry barrel kit for a gun that small. It will make that into a real killing machine. I own several pneumatics and the only reason people dont like them, is because they dont know anything about them. I use that to my advantage and can buy them for SUPER cheap. Hell i found one in the trash can before. At the time i didnt know what i do know about them and it sat for 6 months to where i eventually gave it to a buddy of mine who probably ended up throwing it away. The rebuild kits are cheap and very simple to do.

I was under the impression that pneumatics were illegal / licensed in Ireland.

Not wanting to kick up a fuss but I'd say that you're much better off with a short band gun. In my opinion, pneumatic guns are the most hateful, horrible and dangerous things on earth and best avoided at all costs.
