Hey guys. I suffered a diving accident a while back and have been out of the water for some time now (long story, and posted it in another thread). Anyways, I am looking to get back in the water, and I am looking to get some new spearfishing gear. I used to be an avid spearfisherman, but I only would use my polespear, boardshorts, mask and fins. I have spent countless hours researching guns and wetsuits.

Anyone know where to buy a camo shorty wetsuit? My friend got an Xcel camo shorty from a tag sale a while back, but that's the only time I have ever seen one. I usually can dive just fine without getting cold or banged up, but I figured a shorty would be nice. Living in Hawaii for most of the year I really don't need any thick wetsuits. I was even considering getting just a set of lycra rash guard tops/bottoms and sticking it over my bare skin/boarshorts. I noticed the whole body suit on bluewaterhunter.com, which looked nice. Both Mares and Omer released a set of lycra rash guard tops and bottoms it looks like too.

One wetsuit I was kind of looking at was the Hawaii Skin Diving one: Hawaii Skin Diver Magazine Shop - The Breath of Freedivers Everywhere
Although I was worried it may be too cheap. I wish someone made something like that in a shorty. Any suggestions?

you could always get a good shorty from a surf shop and camo it your self. They have some textile paints that work really well for the DIY camo job. Rip Curl, Body Glove, and Quiksilver make some really comfortable suites. I think Rip Curl and Body Glove even make some zipperless suites. Buy a hood and bam...custom shorty! It will even look cool when your surfing Honoli'i on those days when the river is running cold:)

Haha... thanks for the reply. That sounds like a great idea actually. Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use? I like the idea of custom camo... did a custom camo job on my tracker last year. It's amazing what a few cans of spray paint will do to a car.

I dont know of any brand names. My buddy just did a camo job on his suite and I think he just got the paint at ben franklins. Make sure it sais for use on textile. Probably best if its an oil base too. Though I know they make some waterproof water based paints.

Edit: make sure its a spray paint, im sure that was obvious but just in case!
