i just saw the topic below and i thought i may aswell get some advice as well. i have been goin to a private gym under someones house for about 5 months now mainly because i wanted to lose weight. i still do have a little bit of fat there but not much. i have been browsing these forums for days and i have found some pretty useful tips and tricks. i used to be very unfit as computer games were more important than a social life but ATM i can only hold my breath for about 47secs. can anyone give some really good one tips to increase breathholds and what to do before the breath hold. i do have a pool in the front yard if that helps any? sorry if im asking such a simple and dumb question but im just getting into this sport.

thanks in advance

EDIT - im only 15 BTW and tight for money. (sorry if this causes a hastle)

Briefly, if you are on your own don't use the pool as you might drown (has happened a number of times). Try the CO2 and O2 tables on your bed, apnea walks. Before holding your breath it's best not to have eaten for a while, or to have done vigorous exercise. Be still, therefore, for a few minutes before trying.

@ watersmile. ok great thank you. my sis is also interested in free diving and she will probably be training with me so would that be ok to practise in the pool if one of us goes down and the other keeps an eye on them?

@deepthinker. Thank you. i got the table downloaded and i will try it when i get home from school this arvo.

thanks again

Seems like youve got a buddy organised, so you can train in the pool. Just make sure one knows what to do if the other blacks out, it can be a scary situation and you dont want someone whos gonna run off and call for help while youre floating face down in the bottom of the pool. It might be a good idea to do a freediving coarse if not that at least a lifesaving coarse...
