Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to spearfishing etc with only about 6 months experience and usually go about twice a week.
I'm having some issues with cramping in my sides immediately after getting back in the boat after a dive. It's happened the last 3 or so dives in a row. I don't get cramping anywhere else just both sides just above my hips.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them like this ?

Are you well hydrated? You need to drink lots of water before freediving.

second that but lots of little tho don't chug to much at once of you may induce a stitch (not life threatening but bloody annoying)

always good tie a bottle of water to your buoy or weight belt but if its on your belt as you drink more your buoyancy will increase

here's another thought: I have the same happening when my weights are distributed to far to the outside and when the weightbelt is too tight. It feels like a cramp but for some reason it's not close to the belt or the weights.
solution: get a rubber weightbelt, don't over tighten it and pull it over your hips rather than your abdomen. works for me
