just bought my new leaderfins carbon

After my first dive (freediving), I noticed that there seems to be a white line parallel to where the screws are mounted. Is this a sign of the fins starting to crack? The surface of the fins seems smooth though. I'm worried that this may be the a sign of cracking.

The white line isn't visible when viewed straight on. You need to tilt the fin to a certain angle in order for it to be visible. But underwater, it seems pretty visible.

I've only used this once with shore entry (did not jump from a boat). I wore the fins far away from the shore.

Looks indeed like the beginning of crack formation. You might contact your dealer. Unfortunately some fins of leader fins have been reported the problem..on DB forums there were threads about the issue

Hi. Thank you. Is it possible to be a start of a crack and have a smooth surface? My friend also has these on her carbon blades but on a different area.

I also contacted leaderfins regarding the issue. They said it could only be a discoloration. They were open for warranties though incase the blades will be cracked. However, my dealer said that they don't issue warranty for their fins.
