Singing help breath holding?

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Hey Billie, I do my cardio on an eliptical, too! At my age, I don't wanna wear out my joints. As for singing helping with freediving; I've been singing since I was 6, and grew up in musical theatre (where I learned to PROJECT my voice. I can sing VERY LOUDLY, and hold notes a VERY long time. They usually refer to my kind as "Belters"). During my first freediving course, I did an in-water static breath hold of 4:15. So, you tell me! The only downside to all of it is that a few decades of singing (and emulating Cyndi Lauper) have left me with a VERY strong diaphragm. So, when my contractions start, they REALLY suck! Sometimes I half expect my stomach to get pushed out of my mouth....

Todd (who is moving to Ft. Lauderdale TOMORROW!!) WOO HOO!!

I like to sing. People usually ask me to sing "solo" That is,"So Low" that no one can hear me.
Congrats on your move down here Todd. The winter training program will start in about a month. Prepare for pain, discomfort, and an all around beating! LOL. We will guage progress on how many time you vomit or crap in your swimsuit during the session. Top prize goes to he or she that does both at once.

Singing is great training for freediving - mainly because of the diaphragm control you learn. I can't sing so I play the saxophone and flute instead which has the same effect
