Hey everyone. I was just singing along with the radio... like always... and had a bit of an epiphany i wanted to weigh against everyones experience. I recall reading "Freediving" by Umberto Pelizzari and there were a lot of soft palette exercises moving your tongue in different ways and making different "ah" and "Ooo" sounds that scared the life out of my dog... anyways i was wondering if there is a correlation and/or effect between singing and freediving/spearfishing.. being that i am a practiced vocalist and many other spearos i know are avid singers... drunken karaoke at least.... what do you think?

Not that i think singers will necessarily make great freedrivers but I'm pretty sure there must be some correlation between the exact breathing required to sing and breath-holding for diving.

Opera singers have to do a lot of excersizes to strengthen their core and control their diaphragm.

It is said that Caruso could move a grand piano by extending his diaphragm.
