Skorpio warranty question

I was doing a pre-trip inspection of my dive gear and noticed a crack in my C4 Skorpio Flame fins. It is not a complete snap, but the crack runs half the width of the blade on the 'swimming' part and may just be limited to the first layer, which is starting to fray on the underside. When flexing the fin the and inspecting the top side, I am not seeing any obvious bulges and the flex is still even.

To my understanding they are still well under warranty, but I don't want to send them in since I am leaving in 48 hours for a trip and don't have any other fins. I would like to dab a tiny bit of superglue on the fin to keep it from fraying further and hope that it is a superficial crack. If I do that will I void the warranty? When I get back it might be feasible to send them back in, etc. I can't read the warranty on the Skorpio site since it is in Italian.

I've no idea but why don't you at least send them an email with a photo of the damage and explain the situation? I would at the very least take some photos/video of the issue before you start messing about with glue etc. Or maybe give them a call?

Yes, that would have been smart. I was in a rush to just get everything packed and went ahead and put a dab of glue on them... Shop I bought them from is very good so I'll probably see how they hold up on this trip and then talk to the owner of the shop. I think it may be a very superficial crack, just the very first layer. Guess I will find out!

Fins held up fine under 3 days of relatively deep spearing dives so I think the crack was just superficial.

Yes, they have held up fine--I have done thousands of drops with them since then. They are very, very tough--here in California I shoredive frequently off rocky points, so rough entry/exit, and I do a lot of bottom hunting so I am crawling around and wedged in deep rocky caves and structure, knocking the edges of the fins..

My learning curve was discovering that the weak spot is the front edge; the sides are protected by the rubber rails. But if the front edge strikes a rock (the equivalent of stubbing your toe), they are delicate and will chip. A lot of my shore entries involve a a hike down a rocky goat trail and my old plastic fins I would strap to my backpack, blade down. These I strap in blade up so that if I set the pack down or fall, the front edge of the blade never impacts anything. Also I never toss them up onto to shore from the surfline like I did when exiting with plastic fins.

The glue I sealed that crack with was just super glue.
