Hi

New to spear fishing

What is the difference between torsion &tahitian shaft?

I am thinking of getting a decent gun straight away, but have few problems.

My idea is to eventually go for sabatical to Indonesia &would like to get a gun that does the trick no matter what. I thought Salvimar Atlantis 125 cm Speargun with its 3 bands &long shafts would do just this, but now comes the problem. I would also like to use the gun in the local lakes (&maybe the sea) where main catch would B small panfish (<kg) @close range (<5 m).

I am thinking of getting shorter spears for a gun. Are there any major issues I should consider with shorter spears? (from 165 cm to 130-140 cm). If I also replace the bands with 14 mm, is the gun still over kill, shooting the spear in to wide dark murky water (Hitting the rocks is not a problem though, since the bottoms R mostly gravel)?

Should I consider also getting some short gun, for the <5 m range?
