I just bought an Aimrite slip tip, and the thing just "slips" off constantly. I can't turn my gun in the water, or point it the slightest bit downwards without the thing falling off. Am I missing something, or did I buy a lousy product? I can't imagine thats normal.

Thanks for any input!

Andrew

Its supposed to come off easily. You have to do something to restrain the cable to keep the tip on the adapter until you shoot.

One common method is to tuck the cable under a band after you cock the gun.

Depending on the muzzle configuration, you can also tuck the cable under the shooting line where it crosses over the shaft. The photo shows Spectra, but you can do the same with cable.

And still another alternative is an Alexander cable keeper. Its a little delrin thing with a groove to press the cable into.

I've tried three times to attach the photos, and every time I get a message that the connection was dropped, perhaps because the server is busy. I'll try again later.

Another try, one at a time to see if that helps.

I guess not. It showed "uploading file" for about 10 minutes before I gave up.

If I may ask, how much wiggle should it have? It sits with a slight cant, which seems odd and makes me thing that it won't shoot accurately, and doesn't seat firmly in one spot. Bad?

Thanks

Definitely bad. It should sit very solid and straight on the adaptor, but then slide off very easily.

I have three or four Aimrite tips, and several friends have them, and I've never heard of what you report. It sounds like something is wrong though, and you should email Rick Bettua and get it straightened out. He stands behind his products.

Meanwhile, I'll keep trying the photos. Even if the tip is right, it has to kept from falling off the adaptor.

Oh well, still not working, but I'll be back later.

Aha! Pastor added them. Thanks.

Turns out one of the welds on the barb part of the slip tip was placed poorly, and is protruding into the inside of the female end - basically a sizeable lump where it should be smooth, preventing the two from fitting together properly. Aimrite responded quickly, and will replace the part. I've also taken care of the cable-keeper issue (or lack thereof). Thanks for your help Bill.
