Hi everyone

I've been snorkelling casually all my life but discovered freediving 6 years ago and feel in love with the meditative, relaxing nature of it. You see so much more when you slow down and dive down on your own breathe, without all the bubbles and noise.

My Dad has a boat in Western Australia and I've done 3 trips with him to the very remote Montebello Islands in the Pilbra region there and had an epic time. The wildlife and scenery is ridiculous! Turtles, sharks, crayfish, red emporer, spanish mackeral, coral trout and so much more. We eat like kings. Highly recommend it if you get the chance.

For my day job I'm a software designer which I'm much better at the diving.

So a couple of years ago I got an Apple Ultra watch to use as a dive computer and was disappointed in the Oceanic app that came with it. It was very scuba focused and the user experience wasn't great. So I' designed and recently started to build my own product for Apple Watch called Blue Infinity. - https://blueinfinity.app/

It's currently in beta testing and I'd love to get anyone with an Apple watch in this group to kick the tyres on it and give me there feedback.

And if you need any advice on diving in Melbourne or up around the Montebello Islands let me know!

Hello
Thanks ( if Youtubeurs)
I recognized some species that are also found in the Red Sea or in the Maldives or in Raja Ampa.

Concerning « Emily Bay », you dove down to 18 meters.

« Appel Watch » is a nice (expensive tool)

I use the « mares apneist » sinds 2000

Do you practice Valsalva or Frenzel compasation, what is your maximum depth?
Did you followed a free diving course ? (I’am 3* AIDA, etc)
What type of video camera do you use? (I’ve a Sony HDR-AS50)
I’am a retired electronic engineer … from Belgium !
I don’t project to freediving in Australia.

About sharks !
I think you are aware about … Sharks attacks are increasing
"The Statistics. Australian waters witness an average of 2.7 fatal shark attacks annually (2014-2023), compared to 1.8 in the previous decade."

Like in red sea!☠️

Ha! Well spotted. You have good attention to detail @dcvf !
Have you had the pleasure of diving in Emily Bay? It's where I fell in love with snorkelling so I like to pay it homage in my design mockups.
I'll be fixing that moving forward :)
