Snorkelling and diving magazine archive

Vintage snorkeller

The July-August 1980 issue of Sport Diver featured an illustrated snorkelling article inviting readers to "leave the bubble machine at home, bring someone you love and rediscover the simple joys of shallow sightseeing." Here it is:

This article is one of many that can now be accessed in the Diving Magazines section of the Internet Wayback Machine. If you enjoy reading as much as I do about the history of underwater swimming in general, and snorkelling in particular, there are now plenty of scanned issues of Skin Diver, Discover Diving, Diver, Dive Travel, Pacific Diver, Rodale's Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver, Scuba Times, Scubapro Diving & Snorkeling and Sport Diver for us all to view and enjoy.

Hi ‘DRW’

What's good for 'Freediving' will also be good for snorkelling
The AIDA’s rules (separate file)

When you come to the surface:
Keep your gaze horizontal (this is better for the cerebral blood circulation whose vessels pass through the neck)

When you take your head out of the water:
- your first exhalation must be natural without forcing (risk: Black Out or Loss of Motor Control)
- After Inhale deeply and continue to breathe normally.

Bonnes et heureuses 'apnées';)
