Hey.
I have a question. When I hold my breath, I block the air escaping my lungs sort of using the back of my throat (I'm pretty sure this is the soft palette. Correct me if I'm wrong). It works great, until about after ten minutes into my workouts, I notice a clicking sound at the the back of my throat (my soft palette?), it feels funny (sort of an uncomfortable tickle), and air begins to escape! I usually have to block the air with my tongue for ten or so seconds before I can switch back to the back of my throat, which I can only sustain for another fifteen or so seconds before I switch back to my tongue.
Normally I wouldn't mind so much. I would just block it with my tongue all the time, but it is a lot less comfortable. I would much rather block it with the back of my throat. I notice this a lot more when I'm doing static versus dynamic training, but that may be totally irrelevant.
First of all, am I even supposed to be blocking air with what I think is my soft palette? Is there any way I can increase the time I can use it comfortably? Is my technique totally wrong, and I am missing something big? Is there something wrong with what I think is my soft palette? Any help or advise would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks.
