I have a dive partner that I do a lot of diving with. Ive noticed recently that he has started to have a bit of a problem with his equilization. He is an experienced diver. We generally hang out in waters from 60 to 110 ft deep. On a recent dive he was complaining about extreme pressure in his nasal canal area and his teath began to hurt. this was soon fallowed by a pretty hefty nose bleed. He sais he has never had nose bleeds before. THis happened again the day before yesterday as well. Any advice or information that i might be able to give him?

Nothing really that You can give him. Don't go for decongestants - if they wear off during the dive he'll likely get a reverse block and he sure doesn't want to go there.

Short answer:

Short term:
Flush the sinuses with saline.

Long term:
lay off the dairy products
Search the forum for “sinus squeeze”
