This post was originally a pm adressed for spaghetti, but in this way more of you italians could make your input!

So,here is my questions..

How long are your comfort spearfishing/freediving season?

Is there a major difference in water temperature between ex, genova-napoli in either winter or summer?

and is there any difference at all if you compare water temperature of ligurian and adriatic sea at the same latitude?

any other difference between east / west coast,
like ex,water clarity?

Do the northern mediterraen ever freeze to ice?

Feel free to describe the italian climate(weather) in general from your freediver spearfisher perspective,

k sweden

Hi, i'll try to answer some of your questions

i talk just for freediving: we usually dive from april until late november (Liguria)
the more you go south, the more temp raises: i've been told in sardinia we now have nearly 30° while in Liguria it might be 23 to 25
i don't know much about the adriatic as it has few places to dive due to the shallow water and poor vis
in the adriatic vis might be good, usually form 5-7m to 20+m
as long as i know, the mediterranean never freezes to ice

hope this helps

Thanks for your answer!
Here's some more.

Is this picture in someway true to northern italy (genova/trieste/venecia/rimini)??

or do you have to go to southern italy, sicily, to find this nature?

If northern mediterranean never freeze, how is it then with ex, lake garda?

as for the pic, you can find some interesting spots in the whole Tirreno, even if the best water might be in sardinia and in the other small islands (Salina, Lampedusa, etc.)

again, as long as i know the great lakes never freeze to ice in winter
there are some small lakes at relatively high altitude which freeze often and regularly, but i've never been there so i can't help about them

Hi, panzerkrafft.

Lake Garda never freezes. Here you can spearfish and can freedive all over the year. Of course, in winter the water is very cold.
