Hi,
I'm off to Spain in a month and I'm looking to get a monofin before I go. I want it for non-competative freediving, and I want to use it in the sea primarily, just for fun and exploring. The problem is that there are so many different monofins and I don't have much money, (I'm a part time lifeguard and filmmaker so the money doesn't flow in lots or regularly but it's fun and that's what counts) so I'm quite restricted by budget.

The cheapest monofin I havee found is this one:

http://www.leaderfins.com/cgi-bin/form.cgi/63eng?id=225&tm=1147435907

Does anyone have any experince of it? And also if I was to buy this monofin what measures should I get? I would say the biggest so that I have more surface area to displace the water with?

If I buy this monofin and enjoy it, it is quite likely that I will buy a more expensive better one in the future, so this one is really to see how I get on with a monofin and to practise with it.

If anyone else knows of any cheaper monofins, monofins that are a bit more expensive but a lot better than that one, or if anyone has any second hand monos they want to sell then any help would be GREATLY appreciated! someone must be able to help! I hope someone can, as I'm not sure if I'll be travelling abroad again this year and would really like to use a monofin whilst I am away.

I look forward to hearing your replies, I hope I get some!

Many thanks,
Martin.

Hi Martin,
Got the same fin early this year but have only used it a few times in the pool and once in open water 8c and because I ordered and was told to keep it tight I coudn,t get my socks on over it so only had it on a short while. I got that one for much the same reason as you didn,t have a wad to spend and want ed to try it out and I have to say I enjoy it but it does take time to get used too. Different muscles being used and found it harder at first but gardually got used to it in the pool. I wouldn,t order any larger if you weren,t used to them but others will have more experiance on that.

First off, I'm really sorry about all those posts that have appeared! I got an error screen from DB when trying to post the message that said to refresh the page, so I did, nothing happened, so I did again, nothing happned, and as you can probably tell it did actually work, so I'm sorry about that.

Thanks for your advice fcallagy, good to hear that it seems ok. anyone else got any experience of it?

Hi Martin, I sent to you an email, let me know if was received, thanks.

Best regards, Luis
