just curious..

how many of you guys have had experience with wildlife in the ocean that came up to you in your mono?

dolphin, seals/sea lions etc?

this mermaid's inquiring mind wants to know

Hiya I’ve had a few seals come to say hello but that was with the standard twin fin set up.
Not sure if that counts?

i've had some snorkel experience with dolphin before... but i was on the surface and they were just passing by.

i'm curious if they come up to monofinners.

i know it's illegal in California to approach them due to the marine mammal protection act.. however there is a loop hole if they come up to you.

just curious if anyone else has had a marine mammal experience in their monofin.. or any fin for that matter.

I had a dolphin come up right beside me while towing on a dive plane. Mostly, in our area, they won't come up to you.

One other time we noticed a pod of 6-8 staying in one place, vis maybe 60 ft. They were feeding on something below the sand. I got everybody but me in the water without fins, relying on a slight current to drift the divers down on the dolphin. It worked and they would come up touching distance to my 10 year old, plenty close to everybody else. However, when I got in the water a little later with fins on, they would not come anywhere near as close to me. Why? more maneuverable?, bigger? just running out of time? I don't know. A very cool experiance in any case.
