Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

Looks like spammers are trying new ways to bypass controls and filters. They apparently decided to spam by PM now. I guess, I am not the only one who got the spam message from user wto-stour today. And I am afraid it is just the beginning of a new tendency. Would it be possible disabling PM messages from members with no posting history?
 
Trux, I can’t find a “wto-stour” in the members list to be able to ban him.
Are you sure that is the right name?

I got two messages also from mr wto-stour. Language similar to many of those nigerian schemes but still worse broken english. Thanks for taking care of it, Podge!.

Well I must ahve been seen in Marks and sparks last week but it was MAN BAGS I was looking at guys MAN BAGS. Their ok and fashionable now right?
 
I cannot imagine that people have nothing better to do. It must be an automated bot. Otherwise I cannot imagine someone would spend hours of his time for sending manually spam via PM in discussion forums. The efficiency of such activity must be equal to zero, so it is a totally wasted time, on my mind. And, if it is an automated (or semi-automated) script, it should be possible to lock such behavior automatically too. First of all, I'd suggest restricting Private Messaging only to members who are active publicly too. Although it won't stop the morons posting first and spamming later, it may filter most of them out. And I bet that this idiot is only the beginning, and that we'll see it more and more unless we stop it right now.
 
Other forums I'm on don't allow PMs until there have been 10 posts in the forums.
